Share your Moving Across the country Story

Sorry readers, I do not have anyone lined up today to share their story. Bummer! I know there are people out there that have moved and had to adapt to life so come and share your story.

{ Why Share? }

Before {G} and I decided to move forward with marriage I had a huge decision to make. Do I leave my dream job of teaching agriculture at my high school alma mater? Can I deal with moving away from my family who I am so close to? Can I live in a new part of the country and not become overwhelmingly home sick.

As you all know by now I choose Love. I knew that I would be giving up a career I love, but someday I will be back in the classroom and I just can’t wait for that day! God’s gift to me is the gift of teaching young students and with my patience, love, and willingness to listen I truly loved teaching and know my students loved me in return. Teaching is who I am.  My family and I are still super close even though I am so far away. I wish every day I could just stop at home unannounced like I did before and see them. This just makes time with them more precious when I am home. Friends are people that are there for you no matter what and I am lucky to have great friends that stay in touch and visit us out here in the mid west.

The things I struggle with are still creating friendships out here and getting involved in the community. I will always compare my friends back east to friends here which isn’t fair but you can’t replace 10+ years with memories of high school, college, first loves, and team mates with people that you are just starting to know in an area that you are trying to understand more. I need to stop comparing because I could pass up some great friendships if I do.

By sharing your story you can help me along with others find ways to really make a new life in a new part of the country. Mandy already gave me great ideas for when I move to Iowa by sharing her story last week. I want to join a club whether it be taking a class on photography or hopefully joining an adult soccer league, it’s a great way to meet people.

Sharing your story could really help with others that will be moving. I know a couple gals that read this blog that will be making huge moves in weeks to come and I know they could use some advice to cure some pre-moving jitters.

{ How to share }

Every Wednesday I would hope to be able to share a new story. If you are interested please go to my “Contact Me” tab and fill out the questionnaire. Then simply copy and paste it to e-mail and attach some photos you would like to share.

I hope to hear from you! :)

  5. I have been moving all over the past 8 years with my travel nursing job. I love the excitement of moving to a new place and discovering new places and meeting new people. I have been lucky on finding great movers and appliance delivery services which have catered to my needs though. I must say though,every move I have had has been its own adventure. Still debating whether or not I should go home next summer or not for a while.
